Hi Razorflame, I'm curious why you think it should be "...where the Leicester City..."? British English would never say that, and it doesn't make it any simpler in my opinion. Just wondered why? The Rambling Man (talk) 15:44, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

If you read the whole sentence, it says, where the Leicester City F.C club play. If you were to take the sentence as a whole, that is the only way that it makes grammatical sense. Cheers, Razorflame 14:55, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, it shouldn't. The C of F.C. stands for club. In British English (and please, feel free to check English Wikipedia on this), we would say "...where Leicester City F.C. play...". Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 15:53, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I am all right with you removing the the from the article. I just thought that that was how the grammar of the article was, but obviously, I don't know the rules of British English. Cheers, Razorflame 14:55, 16 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I can't seem to find the topic about that. What exactly do you want me to comment on? If you are trying to point me to the fact that Theeyes is a Benniguy sock, I am quite aware of that. Thanks for the heads-up nonetheless. Cheers, Razorflame 22:34, 18 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rivers

Do you really think List of rivers of Romania (alphabetic)/I-L is an appropriate title? It's not exactly something you'd find when arriving here! The Rambling Man (talk) 16:53, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I believe that the title is aptly named. I used the simplest word for alphabetic that I could find, so I doubt it could be any simpler than that. Cheers, Razorflame 18:29, 20 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Compare it to the en-wiki list of Latin phrases - this is split into smaller alphabetically ordered lists, using the titles such as "List of Latin phrases (A–E) " - I think the titles would be better off as "List of rivers of Romania (I–L)". What do you think? The Rambling Man (talk) 08:12, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I believe that those titles are better. Cheers, Razorflame 14:55, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I would have to agree. The layout of the title is a bit awkward. If you are stating the leters used, the term alphabetical is usually commonly accepted and not needed in the title and the "/" can just get confusing unless dealing with sub-folders. Also, some of the groupings could use to be split into smaller sections where multiple letters are combined into articles over 50K. Redoing the layouts of many of them from 4 to 3 columns (4 is terrible on smaller/1024 screens) show a couple of them that could realy do with single lettering or even split groupings such as with the V's. -- Creol(talk) 08:36, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I know that they could easily be split into smaller sections as I've already done with the letter V, but if you believe that they can be split down even further, be my guest :). One other thing that I don't know how to do is the 3 column thing. If you would like to split them from 4 columns down to 3 for me, that would be great. Cheers, Razorflame 14:55, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
And what about renaming the articles as suggested? The Rambling Man (talk) 15:22, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Will do that now. Can you mark the redirects I make for deletion please? Cheers, Razorflame 15:22, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Not a problem. Done. Have you changed the navigational template to avoid the redirects? The Rambling Man (talk) 15:30, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm working on a response... -- AmericanEagle 23:50, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your message is what I was looking for when I posted this message to ChristianMan16 about ER I wanted to know that. The more I learn on here, the more I learn I have so much more to learn. I have learned very much about what policies and such we have, and other rules and such, but some things (especially our html code and such) I just don't understand yet. I was hoping to be able to become an Admin at the wanted time (about three months), so when I saw the message he gave me I didn't want to jump in and hope for the best, I wanted to see what others though of the idea. And like I said, I didn't want to become you :) I thank you for your message and I will ask him that he not nom me right now. Blessings -- AmericanEagle 00:03, 22 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reviewing blocks

This edit disturbs me. Only administrators should be dealing with accepting or declining unblock requests. Commenting about requests is one thing, but reviewing and deciding what should happen when you do not have access to the tools is something you should not be doing. The {{unblock}} template specifically points out (paraphrased for the most part) Administrator: do this, that and the other thing if you disagree and do this if you agree. As the {{unblock reviewed}} template states that Administrators have reviewed the block, using it is pretty much saying that you are an administrator, you reviewed the block, and you are declining the requests. As you are not one, you should not be saying this to anyone. -- Creol(talk) 06:57, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I realize that I am not an administrator, but since nobody had replied to the request in several days, I decided to review the block because of the apparent lack of administrator interest. I realize that I should not have done that, and I am sorry if I offended anyone by doing this. I feel very embarrassed about it and I will not do it again. Cheers, Razorflame 13:56, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

doppleganger?

Hi there Razorflame. What's a doppleganger? I looked on the page for it, but it wasn't easy to understand. you know, just wondering. IuseRosary? (talk) 14:42, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

A doppleganger is an account that is solely created to prevent impersonation by vandals who love impersonating administrators. They are not meant to be used for editing. Cheers, Razorflame 15:20, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oh right, have you had impersonation accounts made then recently? And, I thought your last RFA got withdrawn? Are you an admin? IuseRosary? (talk) 15:28, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Question

I saw your oppose on TerryfaeScotland's RFA, and was wondering what the loose guidelines are for Adminship on Simple (besides what I could find on Wikipedia:Criteria for Administratorship)? Malinaccier (talk) 20:04, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I can only answer this for my own things that I look for in a candidate.

I look for the following in a candidate (in question form):

  1. Does this candidate understand the policies at Simple?
  2. Does this candidate help fight vandalism at Simple?
  3. Is the candidate active?
  4. Does this candidate actively help build the Wikipedia?
  5. Does this candidate know what he/she is doing at Simple?
  6. Does the candidate have a need for the tools?

These are the most important questions that I look for in a candidate before I support a nomination. Cheers, Razorflame 20:58, 24 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've looked over the discussion and have found that nothing has changed since the last time I looked at it earlier this week. I've added a comment that states that I won't change my vote until someone other than you (not intending any offense, I just need another user's opinion outside of yours because you are the person who is wanting that article to be promoted) gives me their opinion on whether or not the article has reached the comprehension needed. Re:Question

It would be much easier to just do one column...To do three columns I would have to count out each individual river...If you know the number of rivers for each page I could do it......Malinaccier (talk) 19:12, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The reason why I asked if you would be willing to do this is because all of the other lists are 3 columns, so to keep it in line with the other lists, it would have to be 3 columns. Cheers, Razorflame 19:45, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I understand that, it's just that I would need the number of rivers in each to split them evently. Malinaccier (talk) 19:48, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I'll see what I can do. Razorflame 19:53, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here is what I look for in a potential administrator:

I look for the following in a candidate (in question form):

  1. Does this candidate understand the policies at Simple?
  2. Does this candidate help fight vandalism at Simple?
  3. Is the candidate active?
  4. Does this candidate actively help build the Wikipedia?
  5. Does this candidate know what he/she is doing at Simple?
  6. Does the candidate have a need for the tools?

I can only answer this question for myself, so therefore, you might have to ask others to get what they look for in a candidate. I would also recommend you reread Wikipedia:Criteria for Administratorship again just to make sure you meet all of the requirements. Razorflame 20:45, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Runningblader, Proud Maker of OGame artical 00:22, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

They are not direct copypastes. In fact, most of the river articles that I create are very close to the English Wikipedia articles, however, there is a reason for that. The reason for that is this:
  • I have permission from the creators of the articles over on the English Wikipedia to port them over here.
  • They can't be simplified any further.

Careful, it was a legitimate page. --Gwib -(talk)- 15:33, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

How can you say that it was a mistake QD when it was you yourself that deleted it in the first place? Razorflame 15:35, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Because it was. I decided to check (luckily) in the past edits after deleting it and saw it was a legitimate article. It was only an inattentive moment on my part that got it deleted, but you had originally put the tag on it. --Gwib -(talk)- 16:00, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I put the tag on it because it was created as a vandalism article. There was absolutely no redeeming content to it. I also checked the edit history and found that it was created as such. There was no way that that was a mistake QD. Razorflame 16:02, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
You might have to be an admin to view these, but here were the deleted edits made to the article: [2]. --Gwib -(talk)- 16:04, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
You have to be an administrator to view deleted edits. Maybe a copypaste? Cheers, Razorflame 16:06, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

All I saw was that he created a new page so therefore, I automatically marked it as a vandalism article. I guess it could've been a mistake, but since I am not able to see deleted edits, then therefore I should not be punished by having my QD marked as a mistake QD. Couldn't you see the "Warning! This title has been deleted by an admin! View or restore 16 deleted edits" at the top? --Gwib -(talk)- 16:13, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ummm..nope? The only thing I saw was a vandal article. Razorflame 16:23, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Then forgive me for chastising you, I thought 'regular' users could see the "View or restore 16 deleted edits" tag. --Gwib -(talk)- 16:25, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Protection

Here, if you want instances from which to protect pages indefinitely, this would be one. Constant vandalism on one specific page begs a protection until the vandalism is over. --Gwib -(talk)- 19:18, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

According to en:Wikipedia:Blocking policy, that would've been a temporary semi-protection. Continuous vandalism to a single article from a variety of users equals a temporary semi-protection. In this case, however, I believe a temporary full protection would have been a better choice because we were dealing with auto-confirmed users. In either situation, I would've only protected it for a few hours, not indefinitely. Cheers, Razorflame 19:28, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Semi-protect would have had no effect on the amount of vandalism to the page, since all users were 'confirmed'. However, they were also being created sporadically, some one after the other, some 10 minutes apart. An indef full protect for indefinite amounts of vandalism was the best choice. --Gwib -(talk)- 20:49, 27 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I realize that a semi-protection in that instance would've been unhelpful because I realized that all of the users were auto-confirmed. However, since you took off the indefinite full protection several hours after you put it on there in the first place, a temporary full protection would've been the best choice in my opinion. Cheers, Razorflame 14:53, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would have to say that since it just became a good article that it would probably be a better idea to wait a while before proposing it as a VGA. Cheers, Razorflame 20:03, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think that I get what you mean, but if it was ready (I have expanded and worked on it so much over the last couple of days), shouldn't it be proposed. Even if it will stay there until it is ready? Cheers --  AmericanEagle  20:13, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks a load. (You'll certainly get one, when you get through with the romanian rivers...). Cheers The life of brian (talk) 20:01, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I highly doubt that I will be done with the rivers anytime soon (there are 8,324 articles in the category en:Category:Rivers of Romania. Cheers, Razorflame 20:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Open Proxy

Yes, thank you for asking. Many of the IP address used are Open Proxies, and in case of blatant vandalism, the WMF Policy, #5 permits to block and further trace the offending IP Address. Ciao, M7 (talk) 15:27, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good. Cheers, Razorflame 15:29, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good lord!

Nowhere. According to my page, it still exists. Cheers, Razorflame 16:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rivers...

I see your still working on those rivers. But why? Do you like live near them or something? I bet your just trying to boost up your article totals to say you've created the most. But really, what is your purpose? 8,000+? Cheers --  AmericanEagle  16:22, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nope. I like Romania as I want to learn Romanian, so I am creating them to help me learn more about Romania. Cheers, Razorflame 16:23, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Alright, cheers --  AmericanEagle  16:32, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re:Articles

I know, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I was concentrating on just writing articles on all of her books, but I guess it doesn't make sense to leave her article redlinked on so many othe articles! I'll get right to it. Malinaccier (talk) 22:46, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Userboxes in Template: namespace

If you come across a userbox in the Template: namespace, please move it to the author's userspace rather than tagging it for QD. If the userbox in the Template: namespace is a duplicate of a userbox in the author's or another user's namespace, than tag it for QD. Cheers,--  Lights  talk  01:20, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry! That's what I meant to do! Cheers, Razorflame 01:33, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

RE:

It's not really that I need a simpler word than another simple word....the Professional wrestling article calls wrestling pretend while some may see it that way it's not entirely true and can be seen as offensive to Wrestling fans. I'm trying to find a less offensive word.--   ChristianMan16  03:59, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The only word that I can think of that is a little less offensive would be unreal...some other words include not real, informal. Cheers, Razorflame 04:05, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

RE: DEFAULTSORT and BD

I can, I just have one question: When putting the BD template onto an article, does it include all of the other categories Crosby, Fanny (e.g. does it appear the same on the Category:Christians page?) If it does, I'll change it. Cheers --  AmericanEagle  23:11, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Let me check. Razorflame 23:13, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
It appears to work. I'll go through them. Cheers --  AmericanEagle  23:19, 31 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
