Hi Ryan, this user is creating articles ground-up in mainspace bit-by-bit. Petersymonds has made a sandbox for him but he's not using it. I'm going to suggest that he add {{underconstruction}} to them if he's not willing to sandbox these new creations first. Just FYI cause you deleted (rightly) Egbert See you! :) fr33kmantalk 23:35, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
First, it was Peterdownunder who suggested his sandbox. ;) It seems Synergy fixes the problem by cleaning up the article, so I think that needs to be done anymore. — RyanCross (talk) 23:42, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I was just heading over to say it was Peterdownunder (X_X) I've suggested the tag anyway. Saves people who don't know about the editor from adding QD to it. fr33kmantalk 23:47, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Those two were connected; it wasn't a formatting thing really. They were both about the same topic, it was just suggested that another hook was needed instead, so that's why it looks like they're two separate nominations. Either way (talk) 20:03, 19 March 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why is my nomination of Google in DYK not being moved to next update with the other DYK nominations you moved? PmlinediterTalk 07:43, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Another reviewer hasn't verified the reference yet. I looked at the nomination and the comments below it, and it seems the only item that was discussed was the complexity, and nothing about the reference verifying the hook. Don't worry, I'm sure someone will review it more thoroughly soon, and then soon after it'll appear on the Main Page. Keep up the nice work. Thanks. — RyanCross (talk) 09:43, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "with the other DYK nominations you moved," as the last person to move hooks to the next update was User:Bluegoblin7... am I missing something here? — RyanCross (talk) 09:44, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
If you are referring to these hooks, then yes, it was Bluegoblin7. But I did do some formatting after. That's all. — RyanCross (talk) 10:05, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I was indeed referring to those. Actually, I mistook your formatting with update of hooks. Happy editing! Cheers, PmlinediterTalk 10:44, 18 May 2009 (UTC).Reply[reply]
(unindent)Can you move 1 hook from T:TDYK (the bottom one, about India which is the earliest) to the next update. Thanks, PmlinediterTalk 09:01, 24 May 2009 (UTC).Reply[reply]
Hey, did you update DYK today? The previous hooks haven't even been for one day! Though, if we start updating everyday, soon, we'll near en's 6 hour update. The problem is, as Eptalon said that we have too less editors. Just yesterday, User:Mighty Wodan was inactive and it DYK was almost dead. Well, it is pleasing to see enough hooks to update in 1 day, anyway. PmlinediterTalk 09:10, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hmm... I guess I wasn't around to notice that was a new rule... I used to update DYK often. Anyway, I just noticed a problem when I was about to add the credits... two hooks have already been previously used! I'll have to revert it to fix this problem... — RyanCross (talk) 09:13, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I have already added the credits. And regarding the same article contributing 2 hooks, you might take a look at Bluegoblin7's comments herePmlinediterTalk 09:19, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I don't understand... when I read it, it seemed like Bluegoblin was talking about wether it was okay to have three articles of places in one update. I don't see him mentioning anything about having two hooks for one article. Am I missing something? — RyanCross (talk) 09:24, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh yes, you have. See this:-
*...that France is the most visited country in the world, with over 82million tourists visiting each year?Kennedy (talk) 13:34, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
So we can't have it twice at all? Kennedy (talk) 20:57, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
But that's fine. We need hooks for DYK and it doesn't matter if it is from an article already used. Let us keep the limit to two. Three would be overdoing it. Cheers, PmlinediterTalk 07:43, 21 May 2009 (UTC).
Comment: There never has been a limit on the number of times a hook can appear, and let's not start now! We're in dire need of hooks! I think personally we should just limit it to the same article cannot be in the same or consecutive updates... thoughts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluegoblin7 (talk • contribs)
Yeah, Bluegoblin7's idea seems just fine for we need hooks here but that does not mean that the same article will be used in consecutive updates. PmlinediterTalk 15:04, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I was looking at a different comment (silly me). That sounds fine... maybe we should add it to the rules? I'll do that now... — RyanCross (talk) 09:31, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
(unindent)Yes you might. (I must reduce my overuse of User talk namespace. I have got 34% contribs there and only 28% in the main namespace). PmlinediterTalk 09:36, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Why is the DYK updated so soon? My article was only on there for less then a day, which otherwise would have been more then a week! Mighty Wodan (talk) 09:44, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I would prefer if you keep cool and not get so excited about everything. It was done basically because we had a backlog of 5 in Next Update and 4 in T:TDYK. I think that it will be good for Simple if DYK is updated frequently and the last thing I wan't is a frequent DYK contributer opposing this. PmlinediterTalk 09:46, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Was there discussion about this somewhere? Because I'm for whatever the community has decided... — RyanCross (talk) 09:48, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just want my article to stay on the main page as long as any other article used to be (which would be a week). I think we are not ready to update very frequently and I think that if the articles stay on the main page so short they will not receive the attention they would otherwise have. If articles are on the main page for a week, people will edit them, expand them, and they can then be brought to GA more easily. My article, aswell as the others, do not have that oppurtunity now. Mighty Wodan (talk) 09:51, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Does anyone of you think that the DYKs get any attention from anyone other than the 28-odd active editors here? Seriously, if a DYK has to go to PGA, one of these editors will do so and I'm sure that all of them have seen the DYKs. Besides, at Simple, the system is quite different for here even GAs can become DYK candidates. And I really have my doubts whether the community wants the dYK to get real slow like 10 days, In fact, Bluegoblin7 who suggested the ten day update said something about a 3 day update just yesterday here. PmlinediterTalk 10:03, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Soon, yes, we will be able to decrease the 7 - 10 day update to maybe 3, and eventually everyday updates if we gain more active participants at DYK. I would like to decrease it, but I'm fine with whatever the community decides, and it sounds like for now we'll stick to the weekly rule... maybe by next month we can try to decrease it? Let's not go too quickly through things now. Also, does Bluegonlin run DYK alone? No, he doesn't, it's the community's decision whether or not to change the rules, so just because he suggested the three-day update rule, doesn't mean we rush to go with it. For now, just be patient... patience is key. I'd leave it alone at least for a little while longer, and then maybe a proposal can be started to decrease it. Sounds good? Oh, and by the way, a few months ago, the rule was actually to update DYK whenever it was ready to be updated, but after thinking, it's better for updates to be in the spotlight for the same amount of time... to be fair of course. That's why I just reverted the update I did. — RyanCross (talk) 10:46, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Bluegoblin7 does not run Simple. My point is that the same user who said that the time period must be increased to 10 days has said that he wants a 3 day update. And talking of community, can you please provide a link where the community has extended the update period to 10 days. OK ,fine, I'll be patient, but the point is that I think that Simple must be improved. I have no problem whatsoever with 10 day/7 day updates. However, I want everything in Simple to be as good as any other wiki. PmlinediterTalk 10:53, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thought I would jump in, good job I stalk most talk pages on this wiki - it would be polite to let me know btw. No, I don't own anything, nor have I ever claimed too. You will note that things that I refer to are generally backed up with discussion, and if not I try and make one. I would like a three-day update - or less - but at this time a 3 day update is not feasible - we need to get a regular "backlog" going (and no, a backlog is not 9 hooks, that's 1 and 4/5ths of an update imho). Do you get what i'm saying? Ok,points made. I shall be around if you need me, but i'm going to steer clear from DYK for a while if i'm causing controversy (as this thread seems).
