Copying a copyright free item
Hello SHB2000! Could you help me in copying a content from a book that was written in 1908, and almost all copyright free nowadays? It's not to be copied and pasted to the article directly. I can create a userspace like User:Haoreima/Khamba Thoibi. The content is the story portion of the Khamba Thoibi legend in the book "The Meitheis", written by T. C. Hodson. The book is available in the archive.org in many versions including this one. Actually, I don't have desktop currently to copy and paste from the archive.org pages. Could you help me? If copied and pasted in my userspace, then I will do all the simplification process to make it suitable for the simple English wiki by myself. :) Haoreima (talk) 13:29, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Haoreima Apologies for not replying earlier. I've been away, but now I'm back. But yes, I can certainly help with the copying and pasting thing, but I can't seem to highlight the text for some reason (it works on mobile though). I feel sorry to see the reasons in your user page for your semi retirement from Simple English Wikipedia. Sometimes, I feel the same experiences too, exactly like you described. Btw, I hope you will be super active once again like before, probably very soon !

- @Haoreima Thanks for the message. I'll still be here doing copyedits, so I'm not gone forever ;-). Maybe I might start a bit of categorisation too when I come back to regular editing. But it's also worth noting that the time I used to spend on the Simple English Wikipedia has been replaced with nightly cleanups of new articles that were mass created as part of a recent Nigeria Expedition and unfortunately, many of the articles were of poor quality – there was even a case of someone adding a listing 178 kilometres away. Others had content copied from another article (which don't help travellers), some were just copyright violations and most others have nothing but an airport listing that is not even in that destination. I hope I can get back to regular editing here once these have been cleaned up, though it may take months but I'll still do some copyediting :-). SHB2000 (talk) 11:07, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
