I would like to import and simplify articles from en.wiki. Neveselbert (mobile) (talk) 21:56, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Can you show specific instances where you created articles or expanded articles here based on English Wikipedia articles? I see James Callaghan. Are there others? Right now, I'm not seeing the "need" based on your edit history since I'm not seeing obvious examples of creation/expansion. Only (talk) 22:43, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Only: please see Garret FitzGerald for one example. I simplified the article from Special:Permalink/6803932. Neveselbert (mobile) (talk) 22:46, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Typically importer is a right we very very rarely give out. In fact I think we may have only given it out two times. The general bar in the past was editors with a very long term history of copying articles over and simplifying them generally over many years. Think hundreds of articles. For most people all they need is to copy and paste an article on en over to simple and add attribution per WP:Attribution (and obviously simplify). Import is a very destructive tool if used incorrectly/poorly. -Djsasso (talk) 00:07, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Djsasso: Understood. Would it be OK then if I asked you to import w:Bruce Millan over? Thanks. Neveselbert (talk) 00:14, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yep I can do that for you no problem. -Djsasso (talk) 00:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Neveselbert (mobile): Imported for you. Did some minor cleanup but you will still need to remove the redlinked categories or replace them with appropriate ones for here and take care of any simplification. But you should be good to go. -Djsasso (talk) 00:21, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Request withdrawn Thank you. Neveselbert (talk) 00:25, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(ec) I should also mention its one we only give out for specific spelled out tasks per Wikipedia:Importers#Permission and then removed when done. -Djsasso (talk) 00:16, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
