UK-stub change

I propose that a UK stub should be made. TurboGolf 17:51, 1 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

We already have one ({{UK-stub}}). Please help populate Category:United Kingdom stubs. Synergy 11:30, 4 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

music stub? change

I think we may end up needing a {{Music-stub}}. I'm seeing plenty of stubs in the cat. Synergy 16:06, 5 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I agree. MathCool10 01:45, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{China-stub}} change

Is it possible to create a {{China-stub}}? There aren't that many articles on China, but there are a few. MathCool10 01:59, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

That all depends on how many stub articles there are. Synergy 02:20, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{Biology-stub}} change

Since there are many articles dealing with plants and animals, we should create a {{Biology-stub}}. MathCool10 02:00, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Great idea. I'll start it up. Synergy 02:11, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Its ready to go. It was already created before, but redirected to the generic stub. I set the category up so when you change the article from stub to Biology-stub, it will fall into the cat. Synergy 02:17, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Categories (in general) change

Looking at all of the stub categories, I see them mainly as a maintenance feature. IE, they are there mainly to help people maintain articles in a certain manner, much like the cleanup and wikify categories are. As such, they probably should not be included in the list of categories a certain article is attached to as the average user could likely not care less of what type of stub it is. They would more likely look to the categories for similar articles, not articles with similar problems.

This leads to an easy fix, with an issue, and another semi-easy fix for that. The keyword __HIDDENCAT__ prevents the category from displaying on the articles. This keeps it out of sight from the average user who doesn't really care to see it. Unfortunately, it also keeps it out of sight from editors trying to get to it easily. True they just have to hit "edit" and "preview" and the link is there, but it should not take that much. For a solution, a small link to the category can be added to the stub tags for each theme. For example:

or link the subject (in this case "person" to the category instead of the article as the topic should be Be 1500 at worst and would not really need a definition link.

Currently a couple of the stub categories are hidden cats, but others are not. Uniformity is needed one way or the other. --Creol(talk) 07:41, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The second one looks good. Synergy 07:46, 6 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Implemented the second one and added hiddencat to all categories currently in Cat:Stub cats. Synergy 03:03, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Country stubs change

I would like to comission Poland-stub, Vatican City-stub, and Croatia-stub. Thanks, TurboGolf 18:04, 18 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{Europe-stub}} change

Is it possible to create a {{Europe-stub}} for European country "stuff" other than those already with a stub? I see a lot of articles following into this stub category. MathCool10 02:52, 28 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

I wouldn't like that. I would rather prefer country stubs. TurboGolf 03:58, 29 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{rail-stub}} change

I'd like to suggest the above as a sub-type of {{transport-stub}} as I believe there are enough (over 300 at least) articles to warrant it.

Thanks,

Goblin 10:51, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

How many articles would be in this stub cat? And how many articles will be removed from the transport-stub? Barras || talk 11:12, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Lowering the bar change

I think its time to propose that we lower the bar from 500 articles needed for a stub type, to 250 (by half). We still have around 17k stubs sitting there unsorted, and I'd like to get that down. We need some suggestions, and stub templates made. Remember to use the correct ones from en.wiki, attribute them, and format them like the preexisting templates now in use. Ask an admin to protect it once it hits a large number of articles, or is being planned (you may be using a bot, or such to flood so give a heads up to a crat for flagging). Synergy 14:48, 24 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Domain-stub change

I propose to create a new template stub for internet domains - Template:Domain-stub. Are you agree? --AleksA 18:20, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Are there a lot of these? What is the most similar "specialized" stub tag? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 00:40, 27 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

sports stub vs, country stub change

Which stub goes on an English football team article? Griffinofwales (talk) 02:33, 10 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Which stub goes on a British rail article? Transport or UK? Griffinofwales (talk) 22:28, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Personally, I'd put both on it, as there doesn't appear to be a "British transportation" template - that way you'll get the attention of people looking at transport and UK stubs. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 07:37, 17 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
I believe that we are only supposed to put one. You could be bold and create a British transport stub. Griffinofwales (talk) 04:16, 20 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sentence needs correcting change

Second paragraph, second sentence of the project page needs to be corrected. What is it supposed to mean? Hikitsurisan (talk) 22:47, 31 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposal: Movie stub change

I propose a new stub called movies, because there are a lot of movies that need to be stubbed. --Bsadowski1 03:48, 9 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I think this would be a good idea. Just create one and add articles to it. Please don't forget to add the new stub on the Project page. Also don't forget to create a category for it. Template:Movie stub as a suggestions. --Barras (talk) 18:55, 9 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I agree. Any idea how many stubs the template would go in? Griffinofwales (talk) 17:52, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Why not Film-stub. I believe film would be understood by more people/simpler. Yottie =talk= 18:08, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
How many articles would come under such a stub type, approximately? Is there anything higher level that would encompass more stubs than this would? Until then, there's no reason to create the stub type, sorry. Goblin 18:13, 1 December 2009 (UTC) I ♥ Yotty!Reply
@Yot, the cats are called movies, and not films (for some odd reason), so it would be better to go with the status quo. @BG, I'm pretty sure it's in the hundreds (from personal experience), but I would like a rough number too. I don't think there is a more general stub that could be created than that. Griffinofwales (talk) 18:27, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
The reason for the name might be due to a majority of american editors (or that it was created by an american person). Take french german or italian ; all three languages use film. Much simpler, but not my call to make. Yottie =talk= 18:33, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
I agree, film would be better. But, it would require a lot of work (cats to rename, etc.), so for now, I would use movie. Griffinofwales (talk) 18:36, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Lol, I was just about to suggest this. I agree we do need a movie stub - ಠ_ಠ!i!King OF ZE Ravenz!i!ಠ_ಠ (talk) 19:25, 20 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
