Hello! I'm assuming you've popped over from the English Wikipedia, so you're probably familiar with the way this wiki works. I hope you like it here and decide to stay on! Here's a few links to help you adjust:

There's plenty to do here. For example, there are a lot of articles that don't exist yet, which you can bring over from the English Wikipedia and simplify. Hi, PiRSquared... Yes, I'm a big fan of this site. When I taught university-level English I used to make quizzes for my students in Cambodia, the answers for which they'd find here. I'd always wanted to create a project where they'd edit pages but could never figure out how to do it without wreaking havoc. When are we going to see a Simple French Wikipedia, or other languages? One day...

Anyhow, I noticed that the national barnstars hadn't been updated since 2008, so I'm pulling the new ones over here to help out. I'll keep them standardized with the old ones; no fears. And if it ends up taking too much space on the barnstar page, I plan to create a new "Barnstars of National Merit" page and link to that. Other than that, though, I'm not planning on doing anything else for now (ie no mainspace edits). If you see anything wrong with what I'm doing, give me a shout. Otherwise, don't worry I'm not going to vomit all over your project.

Good job bringing all those over! Just to let you know, for the old German, Swiss, and UK ones that weren't named in the standard way, I changed them to redirect to the ones you created. Oh, thanks Auntof6! Yes a Russian Wikipedian named Antonu has been updating and standardizing the entire set. I figured, hey most of the work has been put in already, I should take the minor steps of bringing them to other projects so they can be used to their full potential. Wish I spoke more languages!

I'll look into standardizing the non-nation awards as well, eventually. I tend to flit back and forth between tasks. Thanks for creating the redirects; I'll do the same for any I come across in the future.

PS Do you know if there's a specific reason we only have a Simple English Wikipedia, and not a Simple French, Spanish, Arabic, etc? I can't think of a better way to learn to read and write a language.

I imagine it's because no one has tried to get one set up, or there wasn't enough interest. There's some information here about creating new Wikipedias in other languages. --Auntof6 (talk) 21:31, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

No problem, Vaibhav. I guess I'll do Khmer next -- there's a guy there who's been translating huge amounts from English and as a result that Wikiproject is in the top five for such important articles as the History of China. It was quite a surprise to come across that; basically he's written the most thorough history of many of these countries to ever exist in Khmer. And no recognition! Marines - not all from the USA

Hi PhnomPencil, thanks for all the work you are doing. Just be careful, for example not all marines are member of the United States Marine Corp. For example in John Caesar the marines were Royal Navy Marines.--Peterdownunder (talk) 22:32, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
