Weather front responsible for historic 'Shinnston Tornado'
The 1944 Appalachians tornado outbreak was a strong tornado outbreak. It hit the Midwest and Middle Atlantic United States on June 22–23, 1944. Shinnston, West Virginia was badly damaged by a very strong tornado. It is the worst tornado outbreak in West Virginia.[1] Many hundreds of people were killed or hurt.
