1949 (library)

feminist library in Yopougon, Abidjan

1949 or 1949Books is a feminist library in Yopougon, a neighborhood of Abidjan.[1][2] It was founded in 2020 by Edwige-Renée Dro during Women's History Month.[3] The library is named 1949 because women in Ivory Coast had two important protests against colonialism that year.[3][4] It focuses on collecting books by women from Africa and the black diaspora.[3][4][2]
