Egyptian poet

Abdel Rahman el-Abnudi (Egyptian Arabic: عبد الرحمن الأبنودي, 11 April 1938 – 21 April 2015) was an Egyptian poet. Before his death, he worked on children's books. His best known work is Death on the Asphalt. He was one of a generation of poets who wrote their work in the Egyptian dialect rather than in normal Arabic, the normal literary language.

Abnudi was born in Qena Governorate. He was married to director Attiyat El Abnoudy. He later married Nehal Kamal. He had two children, Nour and Aya.

Abnudi died from problems caused by brain surgery on 21 April 2015, aged 76.[1]
