Alexander Spirin
Russian biochemist (1931-2020)
Alexander Sergeevich Spirin (Russian: Александр Сергеевич Спирин) (4 September 1931 – 30 December 2020) was a Russian biochemist. He was a Distinguished Professor at the Lomonosov Moscow State University.[1] His works focused on nucleic acids and protein biosynthesis. In 1974 he was elected a Member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina.[2] He was elected a foreign associate of the US National Academy of Sciences in April 2019.[3]
He was elected a member of the Academia Europaea in 1990.[4]
Spirin died on 30 December 2020 at the age of 89.[5]
