subfamily of birds
Temporal range: late Miocene to present
|Pacific black duck (Anas superciliosa)|
They are the dabbling ducks. They feed mainly at the surface rather than by diving. The subfamily contains only the dabbling ducks and one relative, the extinct moa-nalos, land ducks which lived on some Hawaiian islands.
