An appliance is a machine that only has limited functionality. A prosthesis is an example. Many appliances need electricity to work.
- Household appliances can be used for cleaning (like the vacuum cleaner) or cooking. If they are easy to carry around, they are small appliances.
- Major appliances are big machines like dishwashers, refrigerators and Ice makers.[1]
- A Fire appliance is the name of a fire engine the firefighters use to extinguish a fire
