Army of the Cumberland
Unit of the Union Army during the American Civil War
The Army of the Cumberland was one of the main Union field armies in the Western Theater of the American Civil War. The army started out as the Army of the Ohio in 1861. It was renamed to the Army of the Cumberland in October 1862. The army fought in several battles during the war, including the Battle of Stones River, Battle of Chickamauga, and the Battle of Nashville.
