Arno van der Heyden

Dutch comedian, singer, presenter and actor

Arno van der Heyden (30 July 1961 – 20 January 2023) was a Dutch comedian, singer, presenter and actor.[1][2][3]

Van der Heyden was born in Groningen in 1961. He spent his youth in Groningen, Apeldoorn, Rosmalen, 's-Hertogenbosch, Malden and Winschoten. In Winschoten he graduated from the Gymnasium in 1980. He moved to Southern Europe where he worked as a musician, grape picker and catering worker. From 1989 to 1994 he was an actor and musician at Theater te Water [nl].[1][2]

In 1992 Arno won the audience and personality prize at festival Cameretten [nl] in Rotterdam. He then worked for TROS, KRO, VARA and RTV Noord. He had his own comedian shows and recorded multiple CDs.[1][2] In 2022 he received the Haide Bliksem Award.[4]

Van der Heyden was diagnosed with cancer in 2019. After the treatment he had voice problems due to, among other scar tissue. However, the cancer returned and died from it in Groningen on 20 January 2023, at the age of 61.[1]
