Arrondissement of Agen
The arrondissement of Agen is an arrondissement of France. It is part of the Lot-et-Garonne département in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Its capital, and préfecture of the department, is the city of Agen.

History
changeWhen the arrondissements were created in 1800, Agen was one of them in the Lot-et-Garonne department.[2]
Geography
changeThe arrondissement is bordered to the north by the arrondissement Villeneuve-sur-Lot, to the east by the Tarn-et-Garonne department, to the south by the Gers department, to the west by the arrondissement Nérac and to the northwest by the arrondissement Marmande.
It is in the southeast of the department and it is the smallest of the arrondissements of Lot-et-Garonne, with an area of 1,013.3 km2 (391 sq mi),[3] and a population of 120,235 inhabitants; its population density is of 118.7 inhabitants/km².[4]
