History change

When the Aube department was created in 1800, the arrondissement of Bar-sur-Aube was part of that original department.[2]

Geography change

The arrondissement of Bar-sur-Aube is in the east of the Aube department. It is bordered to the north by the Marne department, to the east and southeast by the Haute-Marne department and to the southwest and west by the Troyes arrondissement.

The arrondissement of Bar-sur-Aube is the smallest arrondissement of the department, with an area of 1,193.3 km2 (460.7 sq mi), and it is also the arrondissement with fewest inhabitants (28,733 inhabitants).[3]
