Portuguese footballer (1989–2021)

Bernardo David Mendes Salgueiro Campos Tengarrinha (17 February 1989 – 30 October 2021) was a Portuguese professional footballer. He played as a defensive midfielder or a centre back. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal.

He made 106 Primeira Liga appearances. He played for Estrela da Amadora, Olhanense, Vitória de Setúbal and Boavista. Tengarrinha started his career at Porto. His career began in 1997.

Tengarrinha played for Portugal up to under-21 level. He ended his career in 2017 after being diagnosed with leukemia.[2]

Tengarrinha died of Hodgkin lymphoma on 30 October 2021 in Lisbon, at the age of 32.[3][4]
