Bettringen
Bettringen is a village in southwest Germany. About 9,000 people live there. It is part of the town of Schwäbisch Gmünd. It is near Stuttgart.
History change
The village is about 800 years old. It was founded in 1218. In the 15th century, the names Oberbettringen (upper Bettringen) and Unterbettringen (lower Bettringen) are found in documents. In 1464, it first became part of Schwäbisch Gmünd. Later it became independent again.
In 1870, more than 500 people lived in Bettringen. Some other villages were part of it.
In 1959, it became part of Schwäbisch Gmünd. That was before the area reforms of Baden-Württemberg.
Politics change
The city council has eight members of the CDU, four members of the SPD, three members of the Green Party and one seat for the FDP.
