A Bildungsroman is a kind of novel. It is often called a "coming-of-age" story in English. The word comes from German. "Bildung" means "education", and "Roman", means "novel." A novel Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is most famous example of the "Bildungsroman".
