Bottom water
lowermost water mass in a water body
Bottom water is the lowest layer of water in an ocean. It is very dense and is different from other layers of water in terms of temperature, salt content (salinity) and oxygen content.
Most bottom waters of the South Pacific, southern Indian Ocean, South Atlantic and parts of the North Atlantic are made near Antarctica during the winter.[1]
