Breadcrumbs
residue of dried bread
Breadcrumbs are very small pieces of crushed up bread that are used for cooking.[1] Breadcrumbs are sometimes mixed with other ingredients to make food thicker. Some foods are also covered with breadcrumbs before being cooked, so that the breadcrumbs turn into a crispy crust.[2] In Japan, a special type of flaky breadcrumb called "panko" was invented.[3]
