Buea

Buea is the capital of the Southwest Region in Cameroon. The city is on the eastern slopes of Mount Cameroon. About 100,000 people live there. It is home to the University of Buea. The city has many colonial era buildings. German governor Jesko von Puttkamer had a residence built there.
Buea was the colonial capital of German Cameroon from 1901 to 1914. The German colonial rule in Buea was temporarily suspended during the eruption of Mount Cameroon from 28 April to June 1909.
