Carlisle Floyd

American composer (1926–2021)

Carlisle Sessions Floyd (June 11, 1926 – September 30, 2021) was an American opera composer. Many of his songs were based on his life living in the American South. His best known opera, Susannah (1955), is based on a story from the Biblical Apocrypha. He was born in Latta, South Carolina.[1]

Floyd died in Tallahassee, Florida on September 30, 2021, at the age of 95.[2]
