Carol Shields

Carol Ann Shields (June 2, 1935 – July 16, 2003) was an American and Canadian author. She was best known for her 1993 novel The Stone Diaries. The book won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. She wrote many other books and short stories. She worked at the University of Manitoba.

Shields was born in Oak Park, Illinois. She died of breast cancer in Victoria, British Columbia at 68.[1]
