Cherilyn Mackrory

British politician (born 1976)

Cherilyn Mackrory (originally Williams, born 5 June 1976)[1] is a British Conservative politician. She was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) for Truro and Falmouth at the 2019 general election.[2] Before this, she was a councillor in the Cornwall Council for the area of St Mewan.[3]

Mackrory was born and grew up as a child in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.[4]

Political career

Mackory was elected as a Conservative councillor on Cornwall Council for the area of St Mewan. She was elected to the Council in the May 2017.[3]

In the 2019 United Kingdom general election, Mackory was made the Conservative candidate for the constituency of Truro and Falmouth. This was after the Member of Parliament before the election, Sarah Newton, said that she would not try to be elected as MP again. Mackrory was elected as the MP with 4,561 more votes than the candidate in second. She got 46% of the vote.[5]
