Claire Denis (born April 21, 1946) is a French movie director. In 1988, the first movie directed by Denis, Chocolat, was released. It was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Early life change
Denis was born in Paris in 1946, but she was raised in colonial French Africa. When she was 14, she moved back to Paris with her mother to finish her education.
