Cocteau Twins were a Scottish rock band. Robin Guthrie and Will Heggie started the band in 1979 in Grangemouth. The band was named after the song "The Cocteau Twins" by Johnny and the Self-Abusers. The band's first album Garlands was released by 4AD records in 1982. In 1996 the band released their last album Milk and Kisses. In 1997 the band broke up, with all three members pursuing solo careers. The band has since been considered to be one of the defining acts of the Ethereal wave genre.
