Dámaso García

Dominican Republic baseball player

Dámaso Domingo García Sánchez (7 February 1957 – 15 April 2020) was a Dominican baseball player. He was born in Moca. He is best known for his time spent at Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays from 1980 to 1986. He also played in MLB for the New York Yankees (1978–1979), the Atlanta Braves (1987–1988) and the Montreal Expos (1989). He was also a two-time All-Star (1984, 1985).

Before his professional baseball career, García was a footballer. He captained both Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and the Dominican Republic national team.

García died in San Pedro de Macorís on 15 April 2020 at the age of 63.[1]
