DREAM Act

American legislative proposal on immigration

The DREAM Act is a U.S. legislative proposal that would provide temporary housing and work rights to minors who enter the United States as immigrants. If they meet further requirements, they could gain permanent residency. The bill was first introduced in 2001 by Senators Dick Durbin and Orrin Hatch, and has been reintroduced multiple times. It has not passed Congress as of 2024.[1]
