Dick Buerkle

American distance runner (1947-2020)

Richard "Dick" Thomas Buerkle (/ˈbɜːrkl/; September 3, 1947 – June 22, 2020) was an American Olympic athlete. He was a world record holder for the men's indoor mile. He was born in Rochester, New York. Buerkle qualified for the 1976 and 1980 Olympics.

Buerkle died on June 22, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia from problems caused by multiple system atrophy at the age of 72.[1]
