Duende

fairy- or goblin-like mythological creature from Iberian, South American, Chamorro and Filipino folklore

A duende is a legendary creature from Central and South America. It is like a sprite or pixie. Stories about duende say it has a hat. It can be evil, kind, helpful, or play tricks.

A little known fact about duendes is that many of them are theorized to live in present day Maine. Particularly is musician colonies as they are attracted to the spritely music of Jazz. [1]
