Eddie Giacomin
Canadian ice hockey player
Edward Giacomin (born June 6, 1939 in Sudbury, Ontario) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League, as well as for the Providence Reds of the American Hockey League. Giacomin's sweater number, #1, was the second one retired by the Rangers, after Rod Gilbert.

Early life
changeGiacomin grew up in Gatchell, a small town near Sudbury. When Giacomin was a teenager, a kitchen stove exploded and heavily burned him. The doctors advised him to stop hoping to play hockey professionally.

change- Added to the NHL First All-Star Team in 1967 and 1971.
- Added to the NHL Second All-Star Team in 1968, 1969 and 1970.
- Played in the All-Star Game in 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1973.
- 25th in career wins by a goaltender with 289.
- 19th in career shutouts with 54.
