Summary

Description

English: After having made the assembly of the elements and the description of the piece, it had the collaboration of Prof. Walter Spalding, historian and herald, who put the material in heraldic language, passing to the plastic artist Irio Malafaia, the elaboration of the drawing and final art.

On April 1, 1955, he submitted the bill to the City Council of Councilors adopting the symbol of the Municipality.

Approved, the project was submitted to the sanction of the Municipal Mayor of Bagé, Prof. Frederico Petrucci, becoming Municipal Law nº. 548.

Portuguese coat of arms, broken into a band, in blue and silver. In the upper field, which is blue, is a point of fortress, reminiscent of Santa Tecla, the point where the first struggles were fought to incorporate this territory into the Brazilian communion. It also recalls the military origin of the city. The hills of Bagé, in the lower field, which is made of silver, are green in color, representing the giving land and the geographical reference adopted as the name of the camp that gave rise to it. This ensemble is topped by a mural gold crown of four towers, which in heraldry designates a large and fortified city. Under this set, a red listel makes the inscription: “1811-Bagé”, the year the city was founded.

The set of enamels and metals, reminiscent of the national and Rio Grande do Sul colors, and the loyalty of the bageense people to the institutions, is represented by blue; silver designates its noble and proud character; the green tells of the fertility and wealth of our fields; the gold, ardor and strength of the sons of Bagé; the red, the courage and generosity, so often demonstrated by the people of Bagé, in offering their blood for the defense of the Fatherland.

Understanding that it is necessary to regulate the use of the Coat of Bagé, councilor lolando Machado, on August 3, 1978, presented a bill establishing that all expedition material for use by the organs of the executive and legislative powers of the Municipality, should be surmounted. with that symbol, just like the vehicles would have on the sides, painted in colors with the indication of the organ to which they are linked.
