Deutsch: Der Gemeindename bezieht sich auf den Hügel Belmont (schöner Berg) und den Fluss Broye, welche beide im Wappen dargestellt sind. Die vier Felder im oberen Teil, symbolisieren die vier vereinigten Gemeinden und mit den Farben auch auf die Zugehörigkeit zum Kanton Freiburg. Die Teilung dieser Felder per Zinnenschnitt verweist auf die ehemaligen Burgen und Schlösser in den früheren Gemeinden.
