Object history
Deutsch: Der von hinten gesehene Mantel ist redendes Bild für den Ortsnamen. Mantel war seit spätestens Anfang des 16. Jahrhunderts Markt. Die Siegelführung ist erst im späten 16. Jahrhundert nachweisbar. Das älteste Siegel trägt die Umschrift MANTLER GMEIN. Der stets im Schild stehende Mantel war erst streng stilisiert, im 18. Jahrhundert wurde er naturalistisch dargestellt. Die Gestaltung des Gemeindewappens basiert auf der ersten farbigen Abbildung von 1811.
