Foundational Model of Anatomy
ontology for the domain of human anatomy
The Foundational Model of Anatomy (FMA) is a reference system for human anatomy.[1] It shows the structure of a living organism in a symbolic way. The Structural Informatics Group at the University of Washington created and maintains the FMA.[2] It includes around 75,000 categories and more than 120,000 terms, with over 2.1 million connections between body parts, using 168 types of relationships.[3]
