Fred Wendorf

American anthropologist (1924-2015)

Denver Fred Wendorf (July 31, 1924 – July 15, 2015) was an American archaeologist. He was a professor emeritus of Anthropology at Southern Methodist University. He received his Ph.D. in 1953 from Harvard University, and founded the anthropology department at SMU along with founding the Fort Burgwin Research Center in Taos, New Mexico.[1][2]

Wendorf was a member of the United States National Academy of Sciences.[1]
