Gennady Kovalyev

Soviet biathlete (1945-2024)

Gennady Kovalev (10 October 1945 - 30 December 2024) was a Russian biathlete. Kovalev represented the Soviet Union at international competitions. He won at the Biathlon World Championships 1973 the gold medal in the 4 × 7.5 km relay event and the silver medal in the 20 km individual event.[1]

After his biathlon career, he succesfully ran a biathlon school for young people.[2]

Kovalyev died in Chita on 30 December 2024 at the age of 79 years old.[3][4]
