Japanese coming-of-age ceremony

Genpuku is a Japanese coming-of-age ceremony. It dates back to classical Japanese period named Nara. The ceremony was usually backed by an older state member. The adult was changing his childhood name for a new adult name.[1] He was also taking on adult responsibilities.[1]
