George Vasiliou
3rd President of the Republic of Cyprus (1988-1993)
Georgios Vasos Vassiliou[1] (Greek: Γιώργος Βασιλείου; born May 20, 1931 in Famagusta, Cyprus) is an Cypriot politician. He was the third President of the Republic of Cyprus from 1988 to 1993. He was also the founder and leader of the Cypriot United Democrats party (EDI) and a highly successful businessman.

He elected as president of United Democrats and remained president until 2005. In the Parliamentary Elections of 2001 his party lost one of its seats and he wasn't re-elected. In 2004, he resigned from the presidency of United Democrats.
He has also served as Chief Negotiator for the accession of Cyprus to the European Union from 1998 to 2003.
