Georges-André Chevallaz
historian, member of the Swiss Federal Council (1915-2002)
Georges-André Chevallaz (7 February 1915 – 8 September 2002) was a Swiss politician. He was born in Lausanne.
Chevallaz was a member of the National Council of Switzerland from 1958 to 1973. He was elected to the Federal Council of Switzerland on 5 December 1973 and retired on 31 December 1983. He was a member of the Free Democratic Party.
During his office time he held the following departments:
- Federal Department of Finance (1974–1979)
- Federal Military Department (1980–1983)
Chevallaz was the President of the Confederation in 1980.
Chevallaz died on 8 September 2002 in Lausanne at the age of 87.
