Auguste Gustel Hermann (born 27 September 1906) was a German track and field athlete specialized in the throwing events.[1][2][3] Hermann was a pioneer in women's athletics in Germany. She won the silver medalist in the shot put event at the 1930 Women's World Games.[4]

Biography change

Hermann was born on 27 September 1906, likely in central Germany. She became a member of sports the sports club Kölner Turnerschaft von 1843 [de] in Cologne.[1][3] She competed for this club during her whole athletics career. Hermann mainly competed in the shot put but also competed in the discus throw.[2]

On 28 July 1928 she set an (unofficial) shot put world record. She trew 12.26 meters at a competition in Cologne. Between 1928 and 1934 she was on the top-7 list of annual best performances in the shot put worldwide.[2]

Hermann competed at the 1930 Women's World Games the third edition of the Women's World Games in Prague. She won the silver medal at the shot put event. With a throw of 12.12 m, she was 0.37 m behind another German Grete Heublein.[4]

Hermann participated at several German national athletics championships. In August 1930 she became the 1930 German national shot put champion in Lennep. She won the bronze medal at the 1932 national championships.[5]
