Guthrie, Kentucky

Guthrie is a city in Todd County in the state of Kentucky in the United States. In 2020, 1,330 people lived there.^[1]

History

In the 1840s, Guthrie was a stagecoach stop and was named Pondy Woods. Some people also called it State Line because it is close to the Tennessee state line.^[2] It was renamed to its current name in 1867. It was named after former United States Representative James Guthrie. This person also operated an important local railroad named the Louisville and Nashville Railroad.
