Hanneke Oosterwegel
Hanneke Oosterwegel (born 10 December 1996) is a Dutch track and field athlete who is specialized in the 400 metres.[1][2] She is a member of AV Daventria 1906 and represents the Netherlands at international competitions.

Career change
As a junior Oosterwegel qualified for the 2017 European Athletics U23 Championships in the 400 metres hurdles event.[3] However, at the last moment she couldn’t start.[4] Oosterwegel was selected to became 2017 Deventer sportswoman of the year.[5]
Oosterwegel won at the 2021 Dutch Athletics Championships the bronze medal in the 400 metres event.[6][7] Due to this unsuspected result she became at the last moment a member of the Olympic national relay team, being a reserve runner at the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics for the women's 4 × 400 metres relay event and mixed 4 × 400 metres relay event.[8] Her sister Emma Oosterwegel competed at these Olympics in the heptathlon event and won the bronze medal.[9]
Oosterwegel became national champion at the 2022 Dutch Athletics Championships in the 400 metres. She was a member of the relay team at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in the 4 × 400 metres relay event.[10]
Personal life change
Oosterwegel was born on 10 December 1996. Her two year younger sister is heptathlete Emma Oosterwegel and member of the same athletics club AV Daventria 1906.[9] Their father is chairman of the athletics club.[8] Her sister Emma was also a member of the national delegation at both the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2022 World Athletics Championships.
As of 2017 she studied chemistry in the United States, where she combined her studies and being an elite athlete.[3]
