In Norse mythology, Hati is a wolf that chases the moon (Máni) through the sky every day, trying to eat him. Hati has a sister, Sköll, who chases Sól, the sun. At Ragnarok, the downfall of the cosmos, they catch their prey as the sky and earth darken and collapse.
Hati's surname is Hróðvitnisson, attested in both Grímnismál and Gylfaginning, which indicates that he is the son of Fenrir, whose alternate name is Hróðvitnir.
