Haydar Baş

Turkish politician

Haydar Baş (28 January 1947 – 14 April 2020[1]) was a Turkish politician and businessman. He was one of the founders of the Independent Turkey Party and was the party's leader until his death.[2][3] He was also the leader of the smaller branch of the Qadiriyya tariqa in Turkey.[4][5] He was also the owner of many media organizations such as Meltem TV, Mesaj TV and Öğüt, Mesaj, İcmal magazines together with Yeni Mesaj newspaper.[6]

He died on 14 April 2020 at a hospital in Trabzon from COVID-19, aged 73.[7]
