Herse (moon)

natural satellite of Jupiter

Herse is a moon of Jupiter. It was found by a team of astronomers led by Brett J. Gladman, et al. in 2003 [1][2] and called S/2003 J 17 until 2009.

Herse is about 2 kilometres in diameter and orbits Jupiter at an average distance of 22,134,000 kms in 672.716 days, at an inclination of 162° to the ecliptic (161° to Jupiter's equator), with an orbital eccentricity of 0.2379.

It is the closest member of the Carme group, made up of non-spherical retrograde moons orbiting Jupiter at a distance ranging between 23,000,000 and 24,000,000 kms, at an inclination of about 165°.
