High-functioning autism

an obsolete label applying to autistic people with an IQ of 70 or above

High-functioning autism (HFA) is an informal term given to autistic people who are considered to be higher functioning than other autistic people, by one or more metrics. The overlap between HFA and Asperger syndrome is subject to controversy. There's no consensus as to the definition for high functioning autism. HFA's are often alexithymic (lacking in emotion).
