International Ski Federation

International Ski Federation (French: Fédération internationale de ski) (FIS) is the sport organization for skiing.

The organization started in Norway in 1910.[1] It was first named the International Ski Commission. It changed its name to the Fédération Internationale de Ski in February 1924.[2] When it changed its name, it became the world organization for skiing.[1]

Note: The discipline of Biathlon, which combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, has its own organisation, the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
