Israel Vázquez

Israel Vázquez Castañeda (December 25, 1977 – December 2, 2024) was a Mexican professional boxer who competed from 1995 to 2010. He was a three-time super bantamweight world champion. He won the IBF title from 2004 to 2005; and the WBC, The Ring titles twice from 2005 to 2008. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico.

Vázquez was diagnosed with stage-4 sarcoma in November 2024.^[1] He died from the disease on December 2, 2024 at the age of 46.^[2]
